City of Rochester Women’s Squash Tournament!

November 30th, 2010 Mithun Mukherjee posted in Events, General

The University of Rochester Women’s Squash Club is excited to host its first City of Rochester Women’s Squash Tournament! The club hopes to establish a community for female athletes, support the growth of women’s squash, and be able to get together for some lively competition! The proceeds will go to the UR women’s team for general club and future tournament expenses, such as Nationals. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend!

THE EVENT: The style of the tournament will depend on the amount of interest and skill levels. We would like to do either a Monrad style event, where everyone plays through every round and then you move up or down in rank relative to your opponent, or varying brackets, such as beginner/intermediate/advanced or simply a winners and losers bracket. The matches will start at 12:00 at the squash courts at the University of Rochester. Signs will guide you from the gym entrance. Parking is available for free anywhere on campus, with Library lot being the closest. The prize will be announced at a later date. Bananas, oranges and water will be complimentary. There is a $25 entrance fee, and checks can be made out to: Rochester Women’s Squash Club.

Additionally, short coaching lessons will also be available, for a small fee, from the U of R ladies’ squash coach John Walsh throughout the event.
