2003 Weymuller Award.
Presented April 2003 by Fred Weymuller

This presentation honors the top junior in Rochester squash. This year’s honoree has distinguished himself by steady improvement throughout his junior career.

He has played the National junior circuit steadily for the past five years and each year has bettered his position relative to his peers. Right now, before the final standings are sent out, he holds an interim ranking of twelfth in the United States in Under 19s.

He has distinguished himself by his hard work on conditioning, strategy and technique and his willingness to take on any challenge. This past summer he journeyed to Europe and played in tournaments there. He won a few, lost a few, and came back stronger.

He’s been a regular cross-border commuter to Canada and has held a high a ranking in Ontario Under 19. And he has been Number Two on the Squash Rochester ladder all year (pending the outcome of his match with Kevin Burns in this tournament.)

After winding up an excellent career in high school, he’s off to Princeton, where he will try to break into Bob Callahan’s tough lineup. The Tigers were second in the U.S. Intercollegiate team competition.

So cheers for this year’s winner of the Weymuller Award, Brendon Bascom.
